Current Projects
Renowned Cypriot violinist and composer presents his latest project Michalis Kouloumis Quintet. Through this ensemble, artist Michalis Kouloumis showcases his original compositions as well as arrangements on traditional melodies inspired by the Greek islandic repertoire performed with his unique and characteristic musical idiom. Michalis shares the stage with four exquisite musicians from Greece and Cyprus with whom he has extensively worked in recent years.

Michalis Kouloumis is the teacher and conductor of the brilliant Ammochostos Traditional Music Orchestra which captivates the audience in every performance. The Orchestra is a non-for-profit organisation and was established in 2024 with the aim of educating and showcasing the talented young musicians of Cyprus, as well as preserving the Cypriot identity through the teaching and promotion of the music of Cyprus and the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean. Alongside the Orchestra, there is a Youth Department, taught by the exceptional musician Kyriakos Markoullis.

The four musicians hold numerous collaborations in the field of Modal music that also share long-standing friendships and common musical inspiration. The trio will be exploring music from Greece and Cyprus to Armenia and North Africa integrating new directions as well as combining a rich tapestry of musical influences that is rooted in tradition and freedom. The evening will feature guest artist Laia Escartin on the viola and vocals.
