Michalis Kouloumis Quintet

Renowned Cypriot violinist and composer presents his latest project Michalis Kouloumis Quintet. Through this ensemble, artist Michalis Kouloumis showcases his original compositions as well as arrangements on traditional melodies inspired by the Greek islandic repertoire performed with his unique and characteristic musical idiom. Michalis shares the stage with four exquisite musicians from Greece and Cyprus with whom he has extensively worked in recent years.

Ammochostos Orchestra

Michalis Kouloumis is the teacher and conductor of the brilliant Ammochostos Traditional Music Orchestra which captivates the audience in every performance. The Orchestra is a non-for-profit organisation and was established in 2024 with the aim of educating and showcasing the talented young musicians of Cyprus, as well as preserving the Cypriot identity through the teaching and promotion of the music of Cyprus and the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean. Alongside the Orchestra, there is a Youth Department, taught by the exceptional musician Kyriakos Markoullis.

With them is the great Famagusta Traditional Music Orchestra with conductor Michalis Kouloumis.

These performances will take us on a journey through Cypriot music, highlighting its rich tradition and multidimensional heritage.

STRINGS ACROSS WATERS

The program "Strings Across Waters", directed by Tasoula Kallénou with musical direction by the internationally acclaimed artist Michalis Kouloumis, offers the audience an unparalleled experience blending classical and traditional musical elements.

In collaboration with the renowned organization Le Dimore del Quartetto, the distinguished Thumos Quartet from Italy travels to Ayia Napa to work for a week with Michalis Kouloumis. The goal of this collaboration is to fuse classical music with Cypriot traditional music and vice versa, creating a unique musical result. The presentation of this innovative work will place in a spectacular evening at the Ayia Napa Monastery.
